Totals

25 ships, 83,125 tons, including SS 3 (948 tons), and 3 small vessels that were not credited to Silversides in JANAC - Cha-91 (135 tons), Shiratori Maru (269 tons), and Kairyu Maru (180 tons). Also included is Bitchu Maru, not credited to Silversides in JANAC, sharing credit with aircraft. After first being heavily damaged by a Silversides torpedo which put the ship permanently out of service, she was later sunk by Naval aircraft.

These figures do not include the "Unknown Maru" (4,000 tons estimated) claimed sunk on Patrol 1, the "Unknown Maru" (4,000 tons estimated) claimed sunk on Patrol 2, and Somedono Maru (5,154 tons), from Patrol 4. All three of the latter ships were credited to Silversides in JANAC, but are not verified in current research. Note that mines laid by Silversides on her fifth patrol may have been responsible for sinking as many as four additional Japanese ships and damaging four others.

Alden credits Silversides with 24 ships, 78,437 tons, plus shared credit for Bitchu Maru.

JANAC - 23 ships, 90,080 tons. Note that the criteria JANAC used included all Japanese Naval vessels (although JANAC did not usually count warships less than 500 tons that were converted from merchant ships) and all Japanese merchant vessels of 500 or more gross tons known or believed to have been lost during the war. Differences between JANAC figures and current research are noted above.

SORG credits Silversides with 28 ships and 145,400 tons sunk, plus 6 ship damaged.
